I’m not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, it’s exposure for PKD, something that’s necessary. On the other, my kidneys look like that, so making a cake of it feels a little uncomfortable. Not offended, just uncomfortable.
It’s really accurate, so there’s that. I just don’t know how I feel about it.
Thanks for your comment. We are getting a fair bit of feedback from PKD sufferers and whilst we appreciate it may feel uncomfortable we would be upset if we offended anyone. At the end of the day EYHO is about science communication this year so if this cake raises awareness about PKD then it has done it’s job. Information about PKD will be sold with cake.
Well…I did post it on a couple of my message boards. I thought the others in my communities would be interested. The discussion has been fascinating.
I, too, have been dealing with PkD for a good 18 years. I laughed at this cake idea!, but then felt weird about it. People dealing with PkD NEED to have a sense of humor above all else!! I think I’d pass on taking a bite of this cake, though
