The last images we can share of The Helpers project open to the public on the 18th January – this cake from Conjurer’s Kitchen is absolutely delicious but do you have the stomach to find that out for yourself. If not we may just have one going spare…
High concept art cocktail maker James Dance is also serving up his gross looking but tasty drinks including the ‘Vomit’ cocktail shown below. He will try and blame me at some point for his twisted creations but I can assure you they are ALL his idea. To be fair it is a perfect fit with some of the cakes on offer though – believe me when I say the cakes we have shared so far are relatively tame!
Delighted to say that the infamous Eat Your Heart Out pop up cake shop is back for 2013 – this year it’s supported by The Kraken Rum – and will be held in London from the 25th – 27th October 2013.
With a fearsome monster theme it’s entitiled ‘Feed The Beast In Your Belly’. Showstopper cakes guests will be invited to slice into include an lifesized bloated corpse of a drowned sailor, rotting giant squid tentacles and everyone’s favourite Halloween cake, severed limbs. The predicted top seller? Festering wound cupcakes will be this years STD cupcakes.

We have got some incredible macabre food art up our sleeves this year – bring it on!
So the top seller in the Valentine’s Day anatomical pop up (aside from our under the counter v cakes) to date is this salted red caramel heart – yum! One day down, two to go!
I am also totally in love with this anatomical heart pinata kindly made for us by Kerry Hughes.
There are a lot of human chocolate skulls out there but I have not seen a solid chocolate kitten skull or crow before – this is why Conjurer’s Kitchen ROCKS! Truly amazing edible pieces and way past the point anyone could argue that these were not art. On sale in the EYHO Etsy store shortly. More pieces to come including conjoined skulls, a parrot and even a monkey
PS: We love people sharing our stuff and hate watermarking images – if you are going to share these (and please do) then photo credit to Conjurer’s Kitchen is required.
The Conjurer’s Kitchen is on fire at the moment, and I mean that in a good way rest so assured it’s not that her cakes are being burnt!!! Her vision enables her to revisit old classics such as the chocolate skulls and give them a unique never seen before twist. So looking forward to working with her throughout 2013, first up The Helpers DVD pop up on the 17th January where she will be creating something truly horrifying! Whilst it would seem obvious to create skulls inspired buy the Ossuary of the Chapel of St.Michael to my knowledge no one has thought of it before, and that’s what gives CK the edge. Plus of course her skill to execute it personally. You can buy a fully personalised skull on the EYHO shop here.
As many of you already know in response to popular demand there will be an Eat Your Heart Out pop up store in February this year on the 7th, 8th & 9th February, London (it’s actually the first event in a series which I will be doing with Emily Evans but more of that soon)…
This stage of any project is always really exciting so wanted to share some of the edible concepts we have had in so far. This 3D heart cookie from Made With Love By Me / Hannah Glennerster is one of them. It is a three-dimensional interactive maple syrup anatomical heart cookie which has been airbrushed, royal iced and hand-painted. The top cookie comes off to reveal the inner workings of the heart on the bottom cookie which is also a space where you can store a message for your loved one. I see this piece as a romantic extreme fortune cookie!
And there’s more… Miss Insomnia Tulip has come up with this incredible Heart of Stone made from oreo fudge with sugar blood.
The big difference between this event and previous ones is that with Emily on board we’ll be branching out into craft, homewares and art for the first time so it’s a one stop shop for all those who are bored by the saccarine valentines offering and / or pink. We already have some amazing people on board some picks shown below.
Chocolate artist Cake for Breakfast will also be making anatomically correct heart lollipop and solid 100% anatomically correct sold chocolate hearts weighing in at 1lb. Awesome already right and this is just the start!
We’re still on the look out for new artists and bakers so drop me a line if interested – email@example.com
Tasha Marks from Animal Mineral Vegetable has created this gorgeous tasting blood orange marmalade with vein detail AKA ‘Blood Sample’ which will be on sale at #EYHO. She’s also working on some other innovative products such as make your own DNA Strand and a unique variation on smelling salts but more of that soon…
Carbuncle Bars sound utterly delicious >> all butter Shortbread topped with Clotted Cream Fudge, finished with chocolate, maltesers and jelly sweets. From the one and only Miss Insomnia Tulip. So good I don’t care if we get sued by *the brand that shall not be named*.
Now for the educational part:
A carbuncle an abscess larger than a boil, usually with one or more openings draining pus onto the skin. It is usually caused by bacterial infection, most commonly Staphylococcus aureus. The infection is contagious and may spread to other areas of the body or other people.
Sounds delicious and looks even better. Not!!!
Now I am never going to forget what a carbuncle is after seeing these images are you? A gross way to prove the educational point of Eat Your Heart Out. Now if you excuse me I need to be sick.
These chocolate skulls from Two Little Cats Bakery will be on sale at EYHO on a pre order basis only priced at £50 each. Life sized and anatomically correct (unlike some of the tackier examples out there) it’s surely the perfect Halloween centre piece? A limited edition, reservations will open on the 02 October and you’ll have to collect from Eat Your Heart Out. Contact Two Little Cats for more information…
PS: Don’t hang about as I have already reserved 2
Fills me with joy how all the uber talented EYHO bakers continue to push the limits of creative baking. Case in point being these incredible heart macarons which Miss Insomnia Tulip created using different coloured batters. Hell yeah of course they will be on sale at EYHO…
