This years trendiest Easter Eggs? Has to be those themed around the Game of Thrones – a fantasy television series I’ve never really got into to be honest. A massive cult hit the show has seen a nest of various Game of Thrones Easter Eggs pop up online. Here are some of my top picks:
First up the Jacquie LongLegs whose eggs are shown below, click the link and there is even a how to video so you can make your own.
Then there’s these cookies from Semi Sweet Designs:
Then there is this version below which was sent out as part of a Sky Atlantic press pack and I would love to know who made it.
If you have not got a sweet tooth then you can learn how to make non edible versions here.
Of course with such a massive edible item inspired by Game of Thrones are not limited to eggs. This cake below is from Jane Reyes.
I commissioned these David Lynch cake pops from Miss Insomnia Tulip as a thank you to our Bastille client (non edible styling job – http://www.misscakehead.com). As always she manages to totally nail the brief in her own way – creating edible bites of pop culture in a way I have not seen anyone else do. What can I say, the girl is food artist to be reckoned with!
Miss Insomnia Tulip has done it again – they may not be anatomical enough for EYHO but I am going to have to buy some off her all the same. AMAZING.
Breaking Bad Bubblegum Flavoured Cake Pops. Vanilla & Bubblegum Flavoured Cake encased in white Chocolate and hand painted.
More inspired cake pops from Miss Insomnia Tulip >> as usual ridiculously good. This set of four is inspired by ‘Women in Horror’, Blair Witch is my favourite if I had to choose.
As many of you already know I love creating some gross things for the Ministry of Stories and their Hoxton Street Monster Supplies events. They are a non for profit organisation promoting literacy to children who do some incredible work. Past ‘hits’ have included scabs (cranberries), cockroaches (dates) and the now infamous unicorn pies (pork pies sprayed with lustre and covered in glitter). You can see some more of these over at Cakehead Loves.
This time Iced Over Cakes & Cake for Breakfast kindly stepped into the breach for me & created this amazing swap / pond theme for their latest event. I had a thoroughly miserable afternoon feeling poorly whilst they were doing the honours at the location (remotely assisted by Nevie Pie Cakes who made some scary fish cookies). Everyone generously gave their time for free I hasten to add – super talented really creative & kind bunch of foodies there
As you can see it looked amazing and much better than anything I could have carried off to be honest with you. Both Chris & Lisa are trained graphic designers and you can really tell as it all looks so darn good with great attention to detail. Special hat tip Chris for Breakfast for the inspired idea of using sausages to create pond reeds which formed part of the cool centrepiece. Hope he will send me some more close ups of this detail so I can add some more close up images of these.
Would make the most perfect dessert table for a boy’s birthday party don’t you think?..
Miss Insomnia Tulip keeps delivering awesome cake pop after awesome cake pop!
Cake shaped like meat is amazing, but when it’s a cake pop shaped like pigs in blanket it’s on a whole new level. Fab work from Iced Over Cakes.
As I can’t bake the success of Eat Your Heart Out, and indeed all my projects, comes down to the amazing talented cake makers who get involved – Miss Insomnia Tulip a case in point. I’ve already posted about her work a fair bit so when I decided the world needed a series of cake pops featuring the key characters in the Leveson Inquiry (she thought of including God & the LOL Blackberry) it was easy to decide who to approach for this. I was right – she’s nailed it.
Who do you want to eat (leave it) most?

Hmmmmmm starts to wonder what political debacles we can include when the shop opens… Or maybe Private Eye (or another brand) need to support some kind of edible political pop up.
